[FIX] Possible OTA Issues for Wileyfox Swift

Amazon replaced my Swift very quickly. This OTA update was applied as I was setting it up. Now I'm wondering if it's safe to encrypt my phone again?

Anyone know if future updates will work on an encrypted phone?

I'm on Windows so I take it I'm supposed to install Android SDK to get FastBoot, right? Downloaded and as I don't have Java it won't proceed. This is a lot of work to fix a faulty phone. Do I have any other options or am I stuck with a phone that will never be updated? How about a replacement/refund?

I have issues with recent OTA update, I was able to the the update normally but its left afew bugs can I do the update again using this method.

I have a very very annoying issue where the screen randomly locks, changes the wallpaper to default then returns to to normal apart from that my wallaper has changed https://youtu.be/nv2nocaATDM this video shows what I'm talking about it makes the phone hard to use. I also want to root my phone so shall I just get cyanogenMod ? Or shall I factory reset then root? What do you think (when writing this it happend 4 times and it also makes the phone to portrait if its landscape then returns to landscape after)

If you want root, you should check out CyanogenMod, I will warn you though I cannot walk you through the process or guarantee any warranty.

Hi. have checked the Settings and i have not enabled or turned-on the VPN or Encryption on my phone. QUESTION: Do i need to follow further instructions re Fastboot Mode? (As until now i have not received an OTA update yet)

I also noticed OTHER KNOWN BUGS/MISSING FEATURES/OTHER ISSUES (Swift):
1. Adaptive Brightness, Wifi scanning and Auto Sync Data randomly turns on by itself anytime but most of the times when battery level goes down below 20% with no option to change this.
2. Seemingly NO way to save contacts to SIM card and NO other way to display Contacts (e.g. Google account, SIM only, LinkedIn, etc.)
3. NO full dark mode. App Themer seems to crash all the time.
4. Camera autofocus seems slow
5. Reboot takes too long (full minute)
6. Video recording audio seem too "digitised"
7. Gallery photos slow to reload
8. Further battery life optimisations/improvements is very much needed
9. No software update changeling info on your website and a chance to reply or make comments on the website itself.
I have reset my phone 3x already and the same problems persists. I have owned Android phones the past 5 years and i have never experienced these before.
Any thoughts?

i have exactly the same issue with my swift randomly switching to wallpaper and lockscreen. (currently observed on december ota) Often several times in a row.. then again nothing for half an hour...When it happens i have to reenter my pin to unlock it again. I had no chance to test the new ota version if that behaviour changed or not... did not find it in listed fixed bugs.

Back to first post [Fix] - Yes it did work for me. I did receive an ota notification today normally...but my swift had trouble updating to the current release from january (i encrypted it only after the last ota in december). This is fast and easy on linux, but please check md5sum of download before using fastboot. My phone could then load (first again wileyfox screen, then the android guy (with a progress bar) - then to the cyanogen screen - then to a "tooltip" about android updating App x of y.

Keep in mind each loading screen during update still takes a lot of time even if it works! Be patient.before trying to fix it, but over 5 Mins in the first wileyfox screen is probably too long.

My phone is not encrypted, but somehow the update failed, too. I was able to recover some log files but I don't really understand them. Where can I send the logfiles in order to see if this fix might also help me (or to find out what went wrong)?

Doing a factory restore fixed the issue for 7 days where this never happened once until today it started again, we really need a fix for this

I worked through the solution provided and everything seemed to execute ok, but once the phone rebooted using "fastboot reboot" the initial issue remained. Once I turn the phone on and enter the "pattern" in the unlock screen the phone freezes on the "cyanogen" screen.
Is there a known solution to this issue?

Hi there, no this is not a normal issue, have you factory reset it yet?

Hi @bsxtn, I understand that you are not allowed to provide a rooted OS - but is there a reason why you disable OTA-Updates for rooted phones? From my CyanogenMod-experience (older phones) this can work pretty fine, but apparently the updater checks if /system was mounted as read-write (ever). Where is the cyanogen spirit? I would love to see an OTA-update that works on rooted phones, too...

@bsxtn I also encrypted my swift. I got everything until I type "fastboot flash aboot /Users/emil/Downloads/emmc_appsboot.mbn" but then it says: error: cannot load '/Users/emil/Downloads/emmc_appsboot.mbn' do you know any help? Is the boot loader file still right?

All files are correct and this should fix for you if you are encrypted.

Be warned: It seems that the OTA to CM 13 still contains this issue.

(Later down the thread I described how I salvaged my data, for the ones affected, by downgrading to CM12.1 ; note as there is a side-effect that the OTA won't be applyable after that... I downloads it but ignores it.)

I've got the same problem since i encrypted my phone a few months ago. i have tried this fix here, but it gets stuck when i type "fastboot flash aboot /home/intodarkness/Downloads/emmc_appsboot.mbn". It just displays "" and seems to do nothing. on the phone, the first fastboot screen remains.. after about an hour of waiting (!) i disconnected the device and restarted (battery out and in), now its like before. can someone helb me pls?
